HESPERIA LODGE ANTHEM

History

The Hesperia Lodge Anthem was presented to the lodge by collaborators Brother Richard Barry Taman and Brother Gerard Miran Cademcian on January 27, 6000 AL, just in time for the ultimate year of the fifth millennium.  While visiting Oriental Lodge No 33 in Chicago, Brother Taman, then Hesperia's Chaplain, heard the Anthem written for Oriental by one of its brethren.  Realizing that Hesperia lacked any sort of musical signature, he resolved to create an original anthem for his home lodge.  A short while after, the melody and lyrics for the Hesperia Lodge Anthem were committed to paper, and handed off for arrangement to Brother Cademcian, who had been elected to receive the degrees in Masonry and was waiting for his initiation.

The signature score for the Anthem was ready on the evening of Brother Cademcian's initiation, and was presented to the lodge following the First Degree conferral with Brother Cademcian at the organ and Brother Taman singing the Anthem for the first time in open lodge.  The signature score was received by RW John J Valencik, who served as the Degree Team Worshipful Master that evening, and laid up in the Lodge Archives as a memorial to the presentation of the Anthem to the Lodge.

Lyrics

Hesperia, four one one, A F and A M;
Brotherly love, relief and truth,
we proudly take our stand.

Our institution grows,
with wisdom, strength, and love;
Our hearts glow with gratitude,
for blessings from above.

And when our time has come to pass,
as Masons we are just;
We'll enter in thy holy light,
in Thee our God we trust.

Hesperia, four one one, A F and A M;
Brotherly love, relief, and truth,
we proudly take our stand.
