Poinsettias for Widows of the 5th NE District

On Saturday, December 18th, the 5th NE District distributed poinsettias and informational packets regarding Grand Lodge programs to the widows of the 5th NE. Many were overcome with emotion to be remembered at this time of the year by the Fraternity.

BTW, did you know that the poinsettia has a masonic root? It was named in honor of Bro. Joel Roberts Poinsett, a Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of South Carolina, and the first United States Minister to Mexico in in 1825, who learned about the Flor de Nochebuena (Christmas Eve Flower) and later brought it to the United States making it widely popular in the American market.
